A Big Four Not in the US?

A Big Four Not in the US?

It has been announced that WWE will be taking the 2026 Royal Rumble to Saudi Arabia. As a fan, I have mixed feelings about this. In this new era, especially since TKO has become involved, we’ve seen more international PLEs. For smaller events like Backlash or Money in the Bank, I’m totally fine with it. Even Clash at the Castle and Crown Jewel are essentially rooted in international settings.

However, let’s be real—Vince McMahon would never have allowed this. While his moral character is questionable, there were a few things I agreed with him on, such as keeping the Big Four PLEs in the United States and avoiding logos on the ring mat. I understand that WWE has become a global product, and with the Netflix deal, it’s poised to grow more than ever since live events are now accessible worldwide. Still, it feels like someone with a lot of oil money decided that Crown Jewel and King of the Ring weren’t enough. Fans even jokingly call it the “Saudi-verse,” where things that happen aren’t considered canon. Add to that the fact that some superstars refuse to attend due to personal beliefs, and the criticism is understandable. After the announcement, memes started circulating about the women’s Royal Rumble looking like the Power Rangers uniting, which reflects the unease among fans.

On the other hand, WWE’s growth and increased accessibility to international fans is undeniably a great thing. Every fan, no matter where they are, deserves the chance to attend one of the Big Four PLEs. I just hope WWE ensures that those financing the event don’t influence what happens at the Rumble, especially given its crucial implications for WrestleMania season.
