WWE hit two major home run heel turns within the same week.
It's not everyday that there's an epic heel turn that gets everyone talking. Well between December 2nd and 6th, there were two.
December 2nd: Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods Turn on Big E
Everyone who saw Monday Night Raw on December 2nd will forever remember the swerve that was The New Day 10 year anniversary. Many felt that it was going to be the last hurrah for one of the greatest stables and tag teams in wrestling history. That said we also knew that Big E had to make an appearance to try to mend the eroding relationship between former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and former King of the Ring winner Xavier Woods. Then the unthinkable happened. Kofi and Woods turned on Big E with a scathing promo. It turned out Big E abandoned The New Day and didn't pick up the slack. But wait, didn't he have a career ending injury? According to Woods and Kingston, that didn't matter. It was brilliant. It broke the hearts of every new day fan and it's fair to say not many saw it coming. Kudos to Triple H for creating a hell of a twist. Now we all will pay attention. Maybe Big E is indeed closer to a return than we think? With all that said, it's is indeed a new day, yes it is.
December 6th: DIY turns heel to win the WWE Tag Team titles
Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa had been bickering with each other for weeks on Smackdown. Anyone who followed their epic feud in NXT probably thought that it is now time to bring that saga to the main roster. Except, that's not what happened at all. DIY rope-a-doped defending champs, the legendary Motor City Machine Guns by making them and the rest of the WWE universe think Ciampa was harassing his teammate; it turned out was the plan between the two all along. Gargano gave Chris Sabin a blatant low blow. A shocked Alex Shelly couldn't believe what was happening, only to receive The Meet in the Middle and a 1-2-3. You're NEW WWE Tag Team Champions, DIY.
Bravo, Triple H.
