WWE Unveils Women's United States Championship
Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis and COO Triple H introduced the WWE Women's United States Championship throughout numerous WWE channels. This is a long time coming for WWE's women's division.
Women's wrestling is the best it's ever been. There's too deep of a pool of talent between NXT, Smackdown, and Raw for there to just be one singles title. Now that there's a workhorse mid-card title there will be opportunities for new storylines with high-stakes. Best of all, there will be chances to showcase new talent and elevate wrestlers to stardom.
Who should be the inaugural Women's United States Champion?
Stars like Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane, Piper Niven, Chelsea Green, Michin can and should definitely be contenders. If they want to pull from NXT the rosters gets even deeper. We're talking about noise makers like Zaria, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca and the list goes on. I think it would obviously be best to put it on a talent who can get the title over as a workhorse championship of the division.
WWE veteran and former women's champion Natalya expressed renewed enthusiasm with the introduction of the new championship:
"A new title for women in @wwe, I’m beyond excited for this. It’s been 7 years since I’ve won a singles title and I’ve never stopped working towards winning a championship again. I truly believe hard work always pays off. LFG!"
It took long enough WWE, but better late than never!
